There are many fun events to check out this November throughout the Brooklyn Area.
Prospect Park is the biggest park in Brooklyn and has lots to offer in terms of activities and events all year round. This month check out Art in the Park, Greenmarket at Bartel-Pritchard Square, the Early Mornring Bird Walk: Feathered Friends, and Winter on a Flatbush Farm.
1. Art in the Park – Nov 1st, 3rd-4th, 7th, 14th-15th, 17th-18th, 21st-22nd, 25th, 28th-29th
Artist Carol Eisner is exhibiting her sculptures in beautiful locations like Litchfield Villa, Grand Army Plaza, and the Peninsula. Take the opportunity to appreciate free, creative art.
2. Greenmarket at Bartel-Pritchard Square – Nov 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th
Stroll through this unique market, located in Prospect Park’s southwest corner. The market offers freshly grown or caught food. Some tasty items included fruits, organic and regular baked goodies, vegetables and other delights.
3. Early Morning Bird Walk: Feathered Friends – Nov 6th
If you are a bird lover or admire the diverse beauty of feathered friends, this event is something to take advantage of! Observe multiple bird species like ducks, Chickadees, and more.
4. Winter on a Flatbush Farm – Nov 27th
Learn how winter preparation was done in the 19th century! Discover how to make candles, the flavors of Dutch treat recipes made at the outdoor hearth, and wool thread spreading by a master spinster. Keep your eye out for Santa!
There are also events this November at Brooklyn College such as the Gospel Choir Conservatory, The Conservatory Wind Ensemble, and Naomi Iizuka's "Polaroid Stories". Read on more more information on these events.
1. Gospel Choir – Nov 12th
Gifted singers of the college’s Conservatory will inspire you with traditional and contemporary gospel songs. Take the opportunity to sit back, relax, and rejuvinate your soul!
2. The Conservatory Wind Ensemble – Nov 16th
This event will be enjoyable for you if you love instrumental music! The Conservatory Wind Ensemble will perform a range of traditional and contemporary works that include Romantic Ballades, Baroque fanfares, and modern marches.
3. Naomi Iizuka's “Polaroid Stories” – Nov 18th – 22nd
Hosted by the college’s Department of Theatre, the performance will feature stories of a contemporary mix of gods and goddesses with human playthings that are loosely based on actual homeless teens and Ovid’s Metamorphoses. This darker, mythical storytelling may captivate you!
The Brooklyn Center is hosting some fun events as well including the Buenos Aires Tango Company: Stories of Longing and Desire, and a performance by TV legend Tony Danza. Danza will perform "Standards and Stories", a collection of his favorite songs. Keep reading for dates!
1. Buenos Aires Tango Company: Stories of Longing and Desire – Nov 5th
Experience culture by witnessing a passionate celebration of some of the greatest artistic elements of Argentina. This includes Malabo of the gauchos, tango, and different musical styles. Projection mapping will give viewers glimpses of different scenery through the method of illumination.
2. Tony Danza: Standards and Stories – Nov 20th
Broadway and television star Tony Danza will perform a selection of his favorite songs with a four-piece band. He will be incorporating personal life stories with varieties from Honeymoon in Vegas and the Great American Songbook.
